Based on field-proven technology, the new Hydran M2 adds a mathematical model of transformers® based on IEEE and IEC® standards, providing real-time transformer profiles. This extends beyond the monitoring of dissolved gases and humidity, but also extends to the monitoring of more forms of transformer faults.

When an unpredictable failure of an important transformer occurs, it can have a serious impact on the operation and economy of the power grid. Today, many grid-and-industrial oil-immersed transformers are nearing the bottom line of design life and exhibiting significantly higher failure rates. Strict regulations on power supply, reduced budgets for investment and operating costs, and shortages of skilled professionals all require longer service life of these transformers.

The Hydran M2 is economical, a powerful all-in-one transformer monitoring device that allows grid and other users to deploy monitoring of many transformers and benefit from its advanced features.

The Hydran M2 Early Failure Alarm Model monitors transformers and other oil-immersed equipment for early failure through online fault gas and humidity sensors. Additional digital and analog inputs allow monitoring of other variables of the transformer. The new transformer model expands the monitoring and asset management capabilities of the Hydran M2, which can provide more decision-making assistance to equipment operators and maintenance personnel.
