The GE Fanuc/VMIC VMIACC-5595 Gb/s Reflective Memory Hub component is a managed hub designed to be used in conjunction with the GE Fanuc/VMIC 5565 series of reflective memory real-time network products. The reflective memory hub can automatically bypass ports when signal loss or effective synchronization mode loss is detected, thereby keeping other nodes in the network running. Since the optical port is implemented using a Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP) transceiver, only the required ports need to be filled in. The VMIACC-5595 SFP transceiver can be a combination of multimode (short range) or single dust (long range) transceivers. This feature allows for cost savings and system optimization in small networks. For larger networks, multiple VMIACC-5595 assemblies can be cascaded, allowing for managed hubs with up to 256 nodes. Each port regenerates a serial optical signal, eliminating issues of insertion loss and cable attenuation. Signal regeneration can also reduce jitter.
